Modern living takes most people away from nature, it doesn't even figure in everday life. I find this a terrible shame, because there's so much to learn from the way of wildlife and the seasons, and enjoying it can make a big difference to our wellbeing.
"Without the fields I am lost for words. They cost nothing to walk, but give everything to talk about."
In 'A Countryman's Journey' I've brought together observations from being out in the countryside of Britain, and my hope is that you get as much enjoyment from reading them as I have from writing them.
